Member Spotlight | Introducing Carrie ThomasTPHA Board Member representing East Grand Division as Vice PresidentCarrie Thomas, MPH, is an Accreditation Specialist for the Public Health Accreditation Board, where she manages all aspects of the PHAB accreditation process online and tracks progress of assigned health department applicants. In her previous role as Assistant Director of Organizational Planning and Development at the Knox County Health Department, Carrie was responsible for workforce development efforts including needs assessments, staff training, the Academic Health Department and other initiatives designed to maintain a competent public health workforce. Carrie also co-leads KCHD’s accreditation efforts. Carrie graduated from the University of Tennessee with a BS in Human Services and an MPH with a concentration in Community Health Education. Carrie began her career in public health 16 years ago as a health educator for the East Tennessee Region prior to joining the staff in Knox County in 2007. Carrie has been an active member of TPHA for 18 years and has served as chairperson of various committees including the Legislative, Membership, and Awards committees as well as serving as the East Grand Division Vice President in 2016-17. She previously served as the Scholarship committee chair. |
